Personal and Professional History

Picture
I grew up in the Seattle area and I'm very happy to be living here again after going to college and graduate school in the Midwest. After completing my predoctoral internship at Tualatin Valley Mental Health Center in Portland, I returned to Seattle and worked at Family Services of King County (now known as Wellspring Family Services). In 1999, I began a private practice which continues to grow and flourish.

I was drawn to the field of psychology for many reasons. As an undergraduate, I was fascinated by the ways in which people create meaning in their lives and I found myself focusing on the intersection of religion, philosophy, and psychology. When exploring graduate programs in psychology, it was important to find one that recognized the whole of the individual - physical, emotional, and spiritual. My master's thesis and doctoral dissertation focused on narrative psychology and the ways that people create meaning in life through their personal and shared narratives. I feel so honored to be able to help others create a more fulfilling life for themselves while changing the patterns of behavior that no longer work for them.
